MMI Limited Electroluminescent Lamps (EL) is a solid state phenomenon in which semiconductor crystals, known as phosphors, convert electrical energy into light.
The high efficiency of this conversion minimises power consumption and loses due to heat and infra Red (IR) emissions. Consequently, EL devises consume relatively little power and remain within two degrees of ambient temperature under normal operation.
Being up to 0.3mm thick MMI Limited Electroluminescent Lamps (EL) are flexible and durable which allows them to be bent around simply planar curves along with allowing button pressing within in a membrane or similar type switch.
EL can also have internal cut outs and holes for the use of components such as LCD displays, surface mount LED’s, slider knobs, rotary switches, potentiometers and short travel switches to name but a few. |

Custom designed inverter units can be supplied to drive the smallest of EL lamps using chip inverters to the bigger EL lamps with hundreds of squares inches which are driven by a transformer based inverter.
MMI Limited Electroluminescent Lamps (EL) are ideal for design engineers who are working with limited package sizes / space and need an even surface light output within applications such as Membrane switches | LCD displays | Mobile Phones | Keyboard Assemblies | Touch Screens | Automotive Dashboards | Aviation Cockpits | Locomotive Cockpits and Advertising Material.
